Ummm...to make BAIL, perhaps? Holy shit. I used to live in Ventura County, where this gem of a house is located. I ran across this real estate listing today, and was struck by the crazy-ass hilarity of this photo. The seller clearly just couldn't be bothered to clean up the murder scene prior to posting photos of that cursed living room.

Oh dear God!! It's a damn good thing R.E. brokers are required to disclose that there was a violent death in the house...not that there would be much question about that.
