Prince William "homeless" in London

Prince William certainly seems to be carrying out his mother's compassion, once again.  In order to understand the true plight of the homeless, he spent the night near a bridge in London by trash bins.

"I cannot, after one night, even begin to imagine what it must be like to sleep rough on London's streets night after night ..." the 27-year-old son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana says in a statement posted online by Centrepoint, a charity that focuses on the homeless. "I hope that by deepening my understanding of the issue, I can help do my bit to help the most vulnerable on our streets."

Somehow I don't see Prince Charles ever doing anthing like this in his youth...just sayin'.

Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson is the newest ambassador to bring diabetes awareness to the forefront.

Dwayne's statement regarding his new position:

"I'm honored to serve as an ambassador to the Diabetes Aware campaign, and I want to encourage families to be active and eat right. Small steps can go a long way in managing diabetes, its complications, and raising healthy, active children."

I'd MUCH rather listen (and look at) Dwayne than that dorky Jonas kid, Nick.

Yoda Needs Your Help - NBR

Most of ya'll know, I'm a boxer lover and owner. It's my pleasure to alert my readers when a special baby comes along who really needs some help. I know that in this economy, asking for financial assistance for a dog may seem presumptuous. But these are the littlest victims of bad times...often neglected or just plain abandoned.

This is Yoda's story. My friends at Northeast Boxer Rescue in New England have brought his sad story to my attention, and I'd like to share it with you.

Yoda was picked up by a concerned citizen who spotted him on the side of the road. He was in such poor condition that they brought him directly to an emergency hospital since it was evening and the regular hospitals were closed. Yoda had large patches of fur missing on his body, and large scabby sores on the top of his back. His crusty ears were so badly infected you could not see into his ear canals, and they were swollen and stiff. His eyes and nose were runny and he had an indentation mark around his neck from a tight collar.

Yoda was transferred to the animal control shelter where he was held for the required ten days per State law to see if he would be claimed. No one came forward. One of the vet techs from the emergency hospital contacted us and asked if we could help Yoda since he was in serious need of medical attention, and there was no one else to pay for his treatment. NBR agreed to be responsible for his care.

We learned that animal control recognized Yoda as a dog that was brought to the shelter by a man a week earlier. The man said that this was his father’s dog and that his father had died. He brought Yoda to the Shelter and wanted him euthanized because he didn‘t want to care for the dog. The shelter refused. They speculated that the son “dumped” him on the side of the road to “get rid of him” after leaving the shelter. Animal Control said that “Yoda was one of the nicest dogs that we ever had at the shelter”. We are finding out that this is very true.

Along with his skin and ear issues he has had on-going treatment for an ulcerated cornea. Unfortunately, his topical eye medication is not working and he will need surgery to correct the problem.

Yoda has not received much financial support and we are not sure why. We are hoping to raise some attention and donations in his name to offset the costs. His vet bills to date are $1,280.00 and his eye surgery will add to that figure. We have received a total of $230 in donations for Yoda and we are grateful, however, we are asking for your continued support.

Yoda is definitely a happy guy and is enjoying being spoiled by his new foster mom and dad. We have decided that his middle name is Riley…he finally has the life.

Okay. I understand why Christina Aguilara would be supporting and performing at An Evening with Women, held in the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center--Gay Icon AND she wears more make-up than a drag queen. I understand Cybill Shepherd's support, seeing that her (stunning!) daughter, Clementine is gay. But WHAT the goddamnhell is effing Paris Hilton doing there?? Good Lord. Is there an open bar that she won't crash? Why do people keep letting her ass IN to these events? I'm getting irrationally pissed off about this whole affair.

"If U Only Knew"...Amazing Hunter Update

Oh. My. God. That's all I can say. Hunter has a new single called, "If U Only Knew". It's a collaberation with an amazing musician from the D.C. area named Man-E. Hunter was given the beats, then composed the melody and performed the vocals--all in two days. The song is completely different than any of his other work, and I LOVE it! Who knew he could do electronica/R&B and hiphop??

Northeastern Boxer Rescue Needs YOUR Help...

This poor girl needs your love and attention...

- THE TRAGIC REALITY OF PUPPY MILLS

We received an e-mail plea regarding an older female boxer who was rescued from a horrendous puppy mill situation. Officials have been trying to shut this operation down for quite some time without success. Luckily, for some of the dogs, the owner of this puppy mill became ill and was hospitalized. Her daughter finally called the authorities and agreed to let them have the adult dogs. Sadly, she was able to keep all of the puppies.

Most of the dogs were small dogs, but there were also two boxers. Unfortunately, the other boxer was killed because he did not pass the shelter’s behavior evaluation. Three of the small dogs were euthanized for health reasons. An additional two dogs were found dead on the property. All of the dogs were shy and in terrible condition. Gertie was a favorite of the shelter staff because she was so sweet.

When we saw the picture of Gertie , her eyes were pleading with us; we knew we could not leave her to die in the shelter. Her age was estimated to be at least 10 years old. She has no teeth, and has obviously been bred multiple times. She is grossly underweight at 39 pounds. She has not been spayed because the veterinarian at the shelter said it would not be safe. We will make an appointment for Gertie to see our vet as soon as possible. She will receive a much needed medical work-up. Arrangements were immediately made to have her transported to one of our foster homes. More to come when Gertie arrives.

Janet Donlin of Hill’s tells us that “eight million pets a year enter shelters.” And with the economy circling the drain, intake numbers are on the rise while adoption numbers are declining.
To do their part, Hill’s Pet Nutrition is paying the adoption fees for the first 10 dogs adopted at each of the 300 participating shelters. In addition, they are giving away Science Diet pet food and an informational DVD to all families who adopt animals from the participating shelters.
