Nicole Richie Shopping at The Grove With an ENORMOUS Balenciaga Bag

I think Harlow and Sparrow
are in her Balenciaga bag.

ForpitySAKE, Nicole. And the fact that the bag is WHITE makes it look even bigger. Now, if it were red patent leather, I'd be weeping with envy. I really don't love a white handbag (or weekender, in this case), but I do love Nicole's sense of style. Even if Tim Gunn would say, "that's a WHOLE lot of LOOK."

I'm a bit worried about how tiny she is again, though. Hmmm.

David Bowie to release live 2-cd set January 26, 2010

"Cactus" by David Bowie

Sitting here wishing on a cement floor
Just wishing that I had just something you wore
So bloody your hands on a cactus tree
Wipe it on your dress and send it to me

Yeah, I know. It's ghoulish. But there's something about those lyrics (written by Black Francis of the Pixies) that I find, well...romantic. I've been on a bit of a David Bowie bender of late. Watching The Hunger and his Storytellers on VH1 has brought back some great memories of seeing Mr. Bowie twice in concert.

I tell ya what...at 60 years of age, I still find him incredibly attractive. The way he moves, sounds and looks...come ON.  I think maybe he really is a vampire. (I wish!)

via ONTD, Bowie's "A Reality Tour" was

"Recorded in Dublin, live versions span his entire career to-date, from "The Man Who Sold the World" (1971), "Changes" (1972), "Ziggy Stardust" (1972), "All the Young Dudes" (1972), "Rebel Rebel" (1974), "Fame" (1975)," "Heroes" (1977), "Ashes To Ashes" (1980), "Under Pressure" (1981), "I’m Afraid Of Americans" (1997), up through 10 songs from Heathen (2002) and Reality (2003) albums.

The lion’s share of songs that Bowie performed on A REALITY TOUR (and chose for release) were drawn from his two most recent albums at the time, 2002’s Heathen ( "Cactus" [written by Black Francis of the Pixies], "Sunday," "Slip Away," "Afraid," and "Heathen [The Rays]"), and 2003’s REALITY ("New Killer Star," "Reality," "The Loneliest Guy," "Never Get Old," and "Bring Me the Disco King," "Fall Dog Bombs The Moon").

In addition to Bowie, musicians on A REALITY TOUR include Gerry Leonard (band leader/guitar/vocals), Sterling Campbell (drums/vocals), Earl Slick (guitar), Gail Ann Dorsey (bass guitar/vocals), Catherine Russell (keyboards/vocals/percussion/guitar), and Mike Garson (keyboards). "

Speaking of Gail Ann Dorsey...I saw her perform with Bowie. Her vocal prowess on Under Pressure was breathtaking. (She sang Freddie Mercury's parts.) I love her look, her bald head and her voice is spectacular.

My favorite David Bowie album is Young Americans, and Fascination (written by Bowie and Luther Vandross) is, I think, my favorite song. That entire album hasn't aged one day since it was released in 1974.

Check this video out, from the old Dick Cavett Show. If you'll notice, the late, great Luther Vandross is singing backup. Awesome find, if I do say so.

I'm certainly taking the stroll down memory lane lately. Oh well...Bowie. Is. TIMELESS.

I Love Joan Jett...(but I'm worried about the new Runaways movie!)

The Runaways

I'm about to show my age again. A film about the Los Angeles-based badass jailbait band, The Runaways is being made as we speak. Sourpuss Kristen Stewart from that sparkly vampire movie is playing Joan Jett. It's being said that Joan hand-picked KStew for the role. I'm gonna give Joan the benefit of the doubt on that one.

The actress playing the blonde cherry bomb, Cherie Curry is pissing me off, though. Dakota Fanning? Seriously? I'm sure she sees it as an opportunity to shed her goody-goody image, but I'll believe it when I see her moving and singing like Cherie with her Bowie-esque persona. Now, I don't watch "Gossip Girl", but I do know who Taylor Momsen is--she's a 16-year old, big-eyed, actress and rocker chick (she even has a band, The Pretty Reckless). Was Taylor even considered for the role of Cherie Curry forpitysake??

This little chick, Taylor Momsen, should play Cherie Curry...

NOT Dakota Fanning!

I'm actually kind of excited about this movie. I was in high school in southern California when The Runaways were at their height. I was never allowed to do anything like go to L.A. to clubs. I would've been terrified, for one thing. (I was a late bloomer, okay?) I did, however pour over their club dates in the L.A. Times and glean any bit of information I could about these chicks. I mean, they were my age doing this shit, back in the late 70's, people.

Do yourself a favor and Google The Runaways, and hope for the best for this movie.

CONGRATS! New Baby for Foo Fighter, Dave Grohl!

Dave Grohl, daughter Violet and wife Jordyn

The Associated Press, April 21, 2009

NEW YORK (AP) -- Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and his wife, Jordyn, have welcomed their second daughter. And, Grohl says, she likes to make noise.

The 40-year-old rocker says Harper Willow Grohl was born on April 17. She is 7 pounds, 8 ounces, 20 inches long and Grohl says "loud as hell."

He says Harper Willow is named after his great-uncle Harper Bonebrake. Grohl and his wife also have a 3-year-old daughter, Violet. The couple married in 2003.

Darling name. I love Dave Grohl and I love Foo Fighters. Stephen and I wanted to see them last summer, but their show was too close to Dayna's due date with Felix, so we didn't get tickets. Someday, though. Someday.

In the meantime, here's a kick-ass video for ya'll!

New Year's Update

Yikes. I'm finally up and feeling sorta human after, um, overdoing it a bit last night. It was the FIRST New Year's in my entire life that I: a.) went to a NYE party and had actually fun; and 2*.) (*I love doing that) had a hangover on New Year's Day. I know it's nothing new to most people, but I always made a point of staying home on New Year's. But this year we were invited by our dear friends, James and Tim to attend their Studio 54-themed party and just had to join in on the fun. And FUN, it was. Vintage 70's disco music blasted in the two-story, exposed brick-walled space, that is the fabulous Sugardaddy's Salon, which is owned and operated by Tim and James. (The boys presented each guest with a cd of all cool music played at the party...awesome gift!) Tim, who was the official bartender boy, in leather chaps (what else?) made some really dangerous pomegranate sake-tinis. I made my special Peppermint Patty martinis that were also quite potent.

Here are some pictures of the festivities:

Strike a pose, bitches.

This is the shot for the Society Page

Could my husband BE any more gorgeous?
I hope you all had a fun and safe New Year's Eve...tell me all of your sordid (or at-home-relaxing) stories!

A TRIPLE Separated at Birth!

That A-Hole Illinois Gov. Blagojevich
That A-Hole Scientologist, Tom Cruise
That awesome actor, Josh Brolin,
as Dan White in Milk

Can you even BELIEVE how arrogant Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was today during his press conference?? Holy crap. It was all the reporters could do not to laugh right at him as he professed his innocence--even WITH his foul-mouthed audio tapes for all the world to hear. It was like an SNL skit all over again. What a complete and utter a-hole.

Then there was my favorite (read: LEAST favorite) Scientologist this week, who completely ignored his son, Conner's premiere in Will (I'm NOT a Scientologist!) Smith's new film, "Seven Pounds". Stinkfoot's dad was too busy promoting himself to be bothered with one of his OTHER kids. He also had to showboat onstage after Katie's Broadway performance to sing Happy Birthday to her (30!) along with Stinkfoot and the cast from Kate's show. Conner's gonna be really pissed someday, probably sooner than later.

Josh Brolin is having quite the couple of years! Last year, it was No Country for Old Men, this year it's W and Milk--both of which he's getting critical raves and award nominations. If anyone can beat Heath Ledger, it'll be Josh Brolin. You heard it here first? Maybe ninth, I don't know.
