Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo gives grizzly bears a special holiday treat!

"The grizzlies at the Woodland Park Zoo got a treat this morning when what to their wondering eyes should appear but a tree decorated with pineapple rings.

Zoos call this sort of thing "enrichment" for the animals, but it's also a good way to drum up off-season business.

Until Jan. 3, mention "Winter Fun" upon entry and one child 12 & under gets in free with each paying adult.

I love The Woodland Park Zoo. It's a lovely natural space for the animals and birds (the penguin exhibit is amazing!),  and the folks who work with the animals are so devoted. During Halloween, many of the animals are given pumpkins for a special snack!

First let me say that it looks as though Guy Ritchie is finally eating like a normal person now...doesn't he look happier now? I think so. And Rocco? What a darling boy. I love the affection between father and son. Super sweet.

Rocco is going to be a heartbreaker in about 10 years, just like Romeo Beckham. Those two will have to beat 'em off with a stick. (I mean that as a compliment.)

Consider Nicole is working with the folks who bring us 30 Rock, I'll bet her new TV project will be funny. Also? NICOLE is funny. Love her.

The story revolves around a young, modern and professional woman who must balance her business and family relationships. She must deal with, and navigate the many ideas of what a woman’s role is: modern vs. traditional.

Lately, I have been surrounded by many different women of all ages and walks of life. It amazes me to watch and observe how many different ideas there are about what a woman’s role should be in this era. I’ve taken these fascinating ideas, and compiled them into something that I think will be very special (and funny!). We’re still in the very early stages and I can’t wait to share more with you soon!"

This won't pop up on TV until probably the fall of 2010, but I'm looking forward to see Nicole!

Please take a second to watch the trailer to the film, "Babies", which follows four babies - one each from Tokyo, San Francisco, Namibia and Mongolia. The universal similarities and the cultural differences are just lovely to watch...particularly the similarities. Babies are babies, no matter where they are born and raised in so many respects. 

Absolutely precious. I can't wait to see these little babies...

The couple's son, Bronx Mowgli, turns 1 on Friday, and will get to enjoy the company of both parents and friends at a SpongeBob SquarePants-themed birthday party in Los Angeles.

"He likes Bob and he likes guitar – which he calls 'itar,’ so we're going to have a Spongebob party for him," Wentz said.

On the guest list? "A bunch of friends," he said. "Like all the guys in Blink [182] and a couple friends that have kids [are coming over]."

Simpson-Wentz, 25, makes her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart Nov. 30. (She played the role in the London production in 2006.)

Bronx may need a babysitter that night. Asked if he will be attending his wife's debut, Wentz said, "I think I will be." 

All I know is Felix loves Spongebob, too. I think it's funny that Felix's dad, Alex calls Spongebob "Bob" just like Pete Wentz does. Just "Bob". Felix calls him "BOBbob"!

What a DOLL Dionne Bromfield is...and she's Amy Winehouse's goddaughter. Dionne performed Mama Said on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing with Amy and her back-up singers.

Did I mention that Dionne is 13-years old? This sweet little girl has a VOICE...and doesn't have to use anyone's idea of (inappropriate) sex-appeal to sell her talent. Dionne looks so cute.

Seriously. Amy needs to make sure her game gets back on track...and I don't mean with the new boobies she just purchased. She went from a 32B to a 32D very recently. I think she should've rehearsed a bit more--her timing is off here, but really,  it's ALL about Dionne.

For crying out loud. I'm stuck today. I'm really, truly stuck. 

Obviously, I must love celebrity gossip enough to write about it (and usually make fun of), but yeeeesh. This whole fakey filmed/no pre-nup wedding has really gotten to me. Who ARE these people? Why does anyone even care about them? (Besides Ryan Seacrest, who's making piles of money producing their reality shows on E!...)  They certainly know what they're doing, those Kardashians. No need for more sex tapes anymore, huh, girls?

NINE MORE MONTHS

Autumn is sneaking into the Northwest today, and will hit like a sledgehammer tomorrow. Summer completely flew by, as it always does in Seattle. Prepare yourself for plenty of moaning about "this goddamned rain" from me...it's already stuck in my throat. We won't have any decent weather for 9 months. NINE. MONTHS.


Last year, my darling husband Stephen bought me one of those S.A.D. lights. James the boxer chewed the chord to pieces. I don't know if it did me any good, honestly. A fellow-blogger in Seattle, Spicypants, of CelebritySmackblog.com says that she goes tanning to avoid depression. I do feel better when I go to the tanning salon, with its smell of sweat and coconut. I think not being suicidal wins over the fear of skin cancer. Now there's a choice I can stand behind. Dork.


The big news of the day? He's walking. Felix. Is. Walking. I'm following this little drunkard around, talking like a goon ("...and then? And then?? I don't know why I always ask him that question.) We play "Hey Baby'"--the game, not the song. It's basically Hide and Seek, but he thinks it's pretty darn hilarious. 


At the risk of sounding like one of those goony Mom blogs, I'll just say this: I'll take Felix and his silliness over a Kardashian story any day.  I hope you will, too.

Adam has finished up his tour with the American Idol Dorks (with the exception of a few--you know who I'm referring to), and can now work on completing his solo album. I totally cannot wait. Adam was a doll and tweeted:

Y'all know Heigl isn't on my list of favorites, but her newly adopted Naleigh softened my snippiness toward her a bit. What a little dolly Naleigh is.  She's named after Heigl's mom and beautiful adopted sister, who is also of Korean descent. I gotta say, maybe Katherine's just a bitch to work with; I don't know.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Hunter will give me an Asian grandchild. Just hear me out! When he was a baby, people thought he was Asian, and he has always had a "thing" for Asian girls. All I know is, I want me a little Asian baby granddaughter. Hunter? Just wait a couple of years, mmkay? (I can hardly wait, though.)

I'm dying. I have a thing for baby elephants. Back in the good ol' days, when I was able to cry, I would burst into tears upon seeing a baby elephant. All I can think of is that's because of "Dumbo" and the "Baby Mine" song his Mama sang to him when she was locked up.

I can understand why Pete Wentz would want to latch onto Nicole for an opportunity to hawk his clothing line, Clandestine--but why would Nicole feel the need to allow him to ride her coat tails? Nicole's House of Harlow 1960 has been selling out at Kitson on Robertson, forpitysake. She doesn't need that gnat flying around her precious face. Check out the size of Pete's face in comparison to Nicole's. It's hilariously huge!

This sweet little joey named Rooby was rejected and ejected from the pouch by her mama and is now being cared for by staff at the Winnepeg zoo.

"Staff at the Assiniboine Park Zoo hospital are hopping-busy caring for a baby red kangaroo.

The four-month-old female joey, named Rooby by zoo staff, was recently found lying helpless on the floor of its enclosure after being ejected from the pouch of one of the adult females.

Weighing just 560 grams, she would have little chance of survival out of the pouch at this early age, according to zoo veterinarian Dr. Chris Enright.

Rooby would also be dependant on her mother’s milk inside the pouch for up to a year, so staff members have been providing feedings of milk formula every three hours, around the clock."

When not feeding, Rooby spends most of the time sleeping soundly, nestled in a soft towel within a cloth bag, which substitutes for her mother’s pouch, according to the zoo."

Forpitysake! The zoo staff are even rubbing her down with loads of Vaseline to keep her delicate skin nice and moist, like it would have been in her mother's pouch.

I thought we needed a sweet story today...
