Dom DeLuise Dead at 75

Oh dear. Sad news today. Dom DeLuise has passed away. My favorite movie of his is The End. Dom played the nut in the Nuthouse Burt Reynolds wound up in after trying to off himself. Hilarity ensued. Best line of Dom's: "You sure got a lotta rules about peein'." Go rent it.

"Actor Dom DeLuise, best known for his roles in screwball comedies such as "Blazing Saddles" and "The Cannonball Run", has died in Los Angeles, reports said Tuesday. He was 75.

TMZ.com entertainment news website said DeLuise died peacefully in his sleep while in hospital on Monday. A representative for the actor was not immediately available for comment.

DeLuise appeared in a series of films alongside Hollywood icon Burt Reynolds. The duo appeared in "The Cannonball Run" together and a later sequel, as well as other films including "Smokey and the Bandit II."

However DeLuise is best known for his performances in several Mel Brooks films, including Western spoof "Blazing Saddles," Star Wars parody "Spaceballs" -- where he played Pizza the Hutt -- and "Robin Hood: Men in Tights."
