Golden Globes - The LOWDOWN

The cast and director of "Slumdog Millionaire"

MSN.com reports:
“Slumdog Millionaire” won best director, best screenplay and musical score, firming up its prospects for the Academy Awards. The film features a generally unknown cast in the story of an orphan boy in Mumbai who rises from terrible hardship to become a champ on India’s version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” all the while trying to reunite with a lost love from his childhood.

Kate and Leo...together again!

KATE WON TWO GOLDEN GLOBES!!

Winslet, who has previously been nominated five times without winning at both the Globes and Oscars, won for her role as a woman in a crumbling marriage in “Revolutionary Road” and as a former Nazi concentration camp guard in “The Reader.”

Best Actor in a Film Drama, Mickey Rourke for "The Wrestler"

I was really rooting for Mickey on this one. He's an oddball, I know. Remember "9 1/2 Weeks"? How 'bout "Diner"? Yeah. It's the same dude, only 25 years later and 25 plastic surgeries ago. (WHY, Mickey? WHY??) Stop and think about it though. He's a good actor. "Barfly" with Faye Dunaway? Genius. Even in "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" he was awesome. Just remember...HE'S NOT A MONSTER! He's a HUMAN BEING. But I still expect all this acclaim to go to his head and he'll crash and burn this summer. Just sayin'.

"Rourke won for a role as a former wrestling star who gets a last chance at glory in the ring, a theme that mirrors the actor’s life after he derailed his career with bad-boy behavior.
“It’s been a very long road back for me,” said Rourke, who poured out his thanks to “The Wrestler” director Darren Aronofsky. "

Heath Ledger - 4/4/1979-1/22/08

Heath Ledger, as The Joker, in "The Dark Knight"

"As expected, the late Heath Ledger earned the supporting-actor Globe for his diabolical turn as the Joker in the Batman blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” The Globe win boosts Ledger’s prospects for the supporting-actor honor at the Oscars, whose nominations come out Jan. 22, the one-year anniversary of the actor’s death from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

And now the Beauty Contest:

Hands down, my favorite. Drew Barrymore in a John Galiano gown for Christian Dior looks brilliant!

Radiant in strapless red, Eva Longoria.

Eva Mendez, stunning in Dior.

Brad and Angie

Wow. Hold on to your hats. Brad looked great. I'm sure he was wearing Tom Ford again. Angelina? What the hell? Did anyone notice that when the camera panned over to their table they NEVER showed her? Did she ask to be completely avoided by the camera once she saw how tremendous the other ladies looked? I can't imagine NBC would deliberately not show Saint Angelina. Brad was always shown smiling, clapping, chatting...never Angie. Weird. Anyway, she looked dreadful. AND crabby when she lost. Hmmph.

Beyonce`, looking lovely and happy with husband, Jay-Z

Apparently low-budget movies from India and strapless gowns are all the rage! Again, I'm calling "Slumdog..." to sweep the Oscars.

It's been said that Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin hate each other.
That would be funny.

Among TV categories, "30 Rock" won best comedy series, with stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin (who had a hilarious winning speech) earning the acting Globes in a musical or comedy. "Mad Men" won best TV drama.

OK - I hate Drew B's hair - a complete mess. And i didn't like Eva M's dress either - hate the bow and the ruched up breast area! J Lo looks like a bad copy of her younger self (why oh why go for the SAME dress in a different colour??? You're right about the love handles too) Hayden Panettiere's dress was awful - a real tit squasher. Anne Hathaway looks dead she's so pale. Penelope Cruz - toilet paper dress. Megan Fox - lovely (i might develop the lesbian thing). Angelina - horrible shapeless dress and her legs - well they're not her best feature. And whoever Jessica Capshaw is - she's got no friends or someone would've told her to change!

hihi - i wonder if they're all wearing their spanx underneath? Bet they are too!

Debra Messing looks like she's cut the neck off a Victorian mourning dress. Blake Lively forgot to wear her Spanx. Maggie Gyllenhaal - well what a freak. And why is there a black belt on Rumer Willis' dress? Heidi Klum could've chosen something more elegant and less cocktaily. Frieda Pinto - yuk! Where's her shape under that pile of fabric? That's me done - and i know you'll probably disagree on a lot of that - but that's ok!

haha - i have just this second watched the fashion police on E - i HAD to know what the experts were saying after i posted the above. For someone as uninterested in fashion as me i was relieved that i mostly got it right (especially Blake L and the spanx -JINX!). They agreed with you when it came to Eva M's dress though- you're the expert!

Clearly though, I'm in the minority when it came to Drew's look. I thought she was so Marilyn-esque without being slutty about it. J`adore Dior, as you!
